The next meeting of our finance directors and commercial leads network will be taking place in-person at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, 10-18 Union Street, London, SE1 1SZ on Thursday 18 July 2024 from 10:00 - 15:30.
Registration opens at 10:00 and the opening session at 10.30.
The agenda is still under development, however we already have some engaging sessions confirmed, including:
- A strategic policy update led by Amber Jabbal, head of policy and strategic projects at NHS Providers, who will present an overview of the current policy landscape, detailing the latest updates. This session will also include an interactive Q&A.
- An opportunity to hear from speakers including Darren Fradgley, chief integration officer at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, about how trusts are using the development of new hospitals as an opportunity to work with partners to regenerate the local area.
- An update from Julian Kelly, chief financial officer at NHS England, who will provide a presentation on the financial challenges associated with planning for the 2024/25 financial year. There will be opportunity for Q&A.
- The opportunity to hear from speakers including Professor Andy Hardy, chief executive at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and deputy chair of the National Improvement Board. This session will address the role of improvement and how it can help to support trusts in delivering high value healthcare.
The meeting will be chaired by:
- Mark Orchard, Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

- Anyone with responsibility for managing the financial accounts or commercial portfolio of their trusts including director of finance/performance/corporate affairs/contracting/business development/commercial development/investments, chief finance officer and deputy chief executive
- Interim/acting/assistant/deputy directors are also welcome to attend
