Course overview

This course helps governors to understand the accountability structure within a foundation trust and their role within it along with how governors can effectively hold the non-executive directors to account for the performance of the board.

Learning objectives:

• An understanding of the accountability context for councils of governors to carry out their statutory duty of holding the non-executive directors to account for the performance of the board.
• Explore what accountability and holding to account means in practice.
• Gain confidence in posing holding to account questions through participating in practical exercises.
• The opportunity to meet and network with governors from other foundation trusts.

On the day

This course is a full day event running in two sections across one day. The course will be delivered on Zoom. Estimated timings are:  

Section one: 9.30am - 12.30pm  

Section two: 2.00pm - 4.00pm
