DNDN is providing this course as part of its work to increase the representation of people with disabilities at every level in the NHS. This course is for those individuals who identify as having a disability who have considered applying for a role as a Chair of an NHS Board. Individuals do not necessarily need to have had previous NHS experience.
This one-day, online course will provide those who identify as having a disability with an opportunity to explore the role of the chair in an NHS organisation, and how it aligns with their own career aspirations. Whether you are currently a NED in the NHS, or a chair in a different organisation, the course aims to provide space to explore the NHS chair role and the valuable perspectives those with the lived experience of disabilities can bring to leadership positions.
The course will cover:
-
- The roles and responsibilities of the Chair of an NHS Board
- The roles and responsibilities of a unitary board and the key chair relationships
- The application and interview process to build the skills and confidence to apply for these types of roles
- The opportunity to share experiences through a panel discussion with experienced chairs in the NHS including personal perspectives from NHS chairs with lived experience of disabilities
- By the end of the course, you will have had a chance to explore the Board chair role in the NHS and how this aligns with your personal career aspirations.
