NHS Providers welcomes the CQC’s move to more proportionate regulation

24 May 2016

The strategy priorities are:

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has highlighted that care needs are on the increase, against a backdrop of growing financial pressures, meaning that providers need to review the way that care is planned and delivered.

Providers will be better supported to monitor their own care quality, and new ratings of the extent to which NHS trusts and foundation trusts are using resources to deliver good care will be brought into use.

NHS Providers has welcomed the strategy, stating that it is positive to see that our calls for more proportionate and risk based approach to regulation have been taken on board by the CQC.

Quote mark “NHS Providers has long called for a more proportionate and risk-based approach to regulation. Trusts will also recognise changes prompted by their feedback about improving the use of data to target the CQC’s resources.” Miriam Deakin
