We need clarity over long term funding
15 June 2018
- The Lord Darzi and Lord Prior IPPR review has published their final report.
- The report puts forward a 10-point plan to achieve "a bold and long-term funding and reform plan" and a 10-point offer to the public which sets out what the health and care system will be able to offer if this plan for investment and reform is adopted.
- The report also suggests social care in England should be free at the point of care
Responding to the final report of the Lord Darzi review of health and care, NHS Providers deputy chief executive, Saffron Cordery, said:
"As we approach the 70th anniversary of the NHS, this report is a further helpful contribution to the debate on the future of health and social care.
"It is right to emphasise the need for clarity over long-term funding.

"It is also important to ensure there is sufficient time and resources set aside to facilitate the transformation of services, so they can adapt to the changing needs of the communities they serve.
"And we agree that quality of care should be the organising principle for health and care.
"We would do well to hold fast to these principles as we shape services to meet future challenges."
